Drive shaft U joints, and sometimes I change parts before they wear out so I won't be left stranded on the side of the road.

When they break and the shaft falls out. That is why I have 4wd.. when one shaft falls out you can still drive home.

Ok.. not really. Usually when they loose. Infact mine are probably getting close to needing replacing.

I never change a U-joint as preventive maintenance. When one gets loose or starts causing vibes, I will swap it out with a new one.

Speaking of ujoints i started to get a noise while tuning into parking spaces last week and then yesterday when driving about 5 to 10 mph i started to get a noise in the front.

Went out and checked my front wheel u joints and they were loose as can be you can wiggle the shaft all over so time for a weekend project.
