Default how much slip from a limited slip?

Today I did an axle swap and upgraded my 8.25 to a d44. The tag on it says it has a limited slip, but when I mounted it I didn't have the brakes adjusted properly but I noticed that I could spin one wheel pretty easily while the other one was locked up by the brakes. Almost as easily as my open diff on my 8.25. I haven't had a chance to change the fluid, there might not be anything in there, I'll do that tomorrow, but would that cause it to slip easily? Or do I just have and open diff? or does it need to heat up before it grabs? I don't know anything about limited slip, thanks in advance for informing me.

Could just be worn out clutches, once there gone it's pretty much a open diff.

That fluid was drained out at the jy Dan. Make sure you remember to get the friction modifier to put back in it as well.

It is a different type of fluid that is required with the limited slip differentials and has to be added in with the regular gear oil. Without it you will burn up the clutch packs in the limited slip. It is available at any auto parts store.

good to know, I just bought regular synthetic gear oil. is the friction modifier an additive? or does it replace the gear oil entirely?
