it would be cheaper to buy a 4x4 than convert a 4x2

the most effecient way would be to seel your current jeep and get one with 4x4...

but if you do do it, you have to get a new transmission, transfercase, front axle, and driveshafts, as well as some other miscelanious wiring and interior parts and a ton of time...

Well the best answer is sell it and buy a 4x4. But if your up for the challenge. you need a front axle, transfer case and front drive shaft from a 4x4. I'm not sure but you might need a diffrent transmission too. I dont know if the output on a 2x4 trans will direct bolt to a transfer case. There's also some wiring stuff and possibly a new rear drive shaft because your old one may be too long after you add the length of the new transfer case under there. Basically you get to keep your engine and rear axle. Oh and dont forget you might need mounting stuff for the t-case.

Honestly it would be easyer just to get a 4x4 cherokee the same generation as the one you got that has a blown motor and swap that out.

However with enough time, money and welding skills ANYTHING is possible.
