Wow...guess I am one of the few FOR a good sounding exhaust. Can't say I like it louder just to be loud. Hell I cuss at harleys way too often around me.

I went with a flowmaster super delta 40 muffler and it is stupid ricer loud. Big huge mistake on my part.

I was looking for a nice low V8 rumble. Everyone kept saying flowmaster delta but didn't say which one. I figured the 40 series for better flow of the stroker motor and 3" exhaust. HUGE MISTAKE.

I had a flowmaster on my 94 GC with a 5.2 and it sounded great.

As for cats...I'm more of a dog person. Cats don't last too long around me. Given they just clog up things and are expensive, its cheaper to just stay with dogs and remove cats completely.

Bouncy you are not a good person. You knocked two of my loves in one post. Harleys and Cats. Harleys are loud for a reason. If you don't see them then you might cause a wreck so they are loud so you can hear them if you don't see them. Same principle as a siren.
Cats will sit on your lap while you are at the computer and they purr their satisfaction with your care of them and when it is pouring or snowing they are not requesting that you take them for an extended walk.
Cats rule and dogs drool!!!

I'm all for a GOOD sounding exhaust. It's like music to a gearhead's ears. But loud, drilled out, no cat, glass pack, coffee can exhausts and anything strapped to a Harley are just annoying and not necessary. If you want it to sound "mean," get an exhaust that actually makes it mean, while you're at it get a new motor too. But if you just want it to be loud cuz you're a tool, well then I don't condone that level of douchebaggery.

As usual well spoken. My old Harley has straight pipes with a silencer that slides in and is held by a 1/4 20 bolt.

Figured you would end up hating me soon enough.

Harleys by my house are so loud you can hear them for about 10 miles at night. To me, same laws "should" apply to anything with a motor. Car, truck, semi, AIRPLANE, and harleys. Given I listen to jets fly over as well.

If my car has to be under 150 decibals, so should the jets and bikes. Some of these bikes are louder than top fuelers SERIOUSLY.

And guess I am of the mind...IF you have a license, you SHOULD know how to drive and check your blind spots.

Given your logic of harleys letting people know if your there...Does that mean I should shoot or hit people that don't use blinkers when they don't see ME driving my Dually RAM truck??

I am all for good sounding exhausts, dont get me wrong. I just dont like it when people run nothing at all, its too loud and does nothing at all for the jeep.

My exhaust on my jeeps.

XJ: Header, 3" pipe (for stroker flow), flowmaster delta 40 2.5" in and out, pipe to the rear with 2.5"

CJ: Headers, 3" primary, 3" pipe to muffler.

No restrictions. CJ is semi loud when floored but creeping its a nice low rumble. XJ hasn't been out to much but its loud no matter what. And WILL be changed at some point.

NO I DON'T HATE ANYONE! Life is too short for hatred.
No shooting is bad. If you are inclined to ***** about noise levels then I want to go slam my HiLift through the windsheils of these punks who have amps and bass speakers who are so loud at a light that no one can hear their own tunes. Just Thump Thump from the rap crap that they Thump (not play). They must go deaf by the end of a one hunndred mile trip.

Agreed. Forgot to mention them...even though I told my wife I want to put up a street sign. Turn it down or risk holes in car.

IE: Shoot at amps and subs in rear of car from front porch.

Did I mention I like shooting targets and such.

Yes. Yes you should.

But sometimes it doesn't matter if you signal, have 150 square inches of chrome and the loudest exhaust in the world, motorists just DO NOT check all their blind spots. I don't do it, and I've almost wiped out bikers on the interstate. We check our mirrors and we change lanes, enter/exit the highway, and cross intersections. Sometimes the guy on the bike is to blame, but most often it's the guy in the Mazda's fault for not rubbernecking before he turned into Starbucks for his daily dose of status quo.

I guess driving a bigger truck...and some even bigger than mine, I learned early on to check both the mirrors and blind spots.

And Still I did almost hit a bike ones. I was slow to change lanes and he flew up from behind as well as changed lanes. I had seen him when I looked back...Him in the right lane and me in the left. Me moving to center lane as did He on his bike. Guess he missed my blinker in the process.

I normally try to let bikes pass as they are easier to see in front of me and keep an eye on them.

Back to loud exhausts though. Deep rumble is cool to me since I like muscle cars..but obnoxious noise can stay a long way away. Flow is good for motors but to much is bad.

That XJ sounds like it has a very nice exhaust to it.

I agree with a good sounding exhaust i think it just sounds like raw power.

I go to high school in a rather wealthy town and some of my fellow students have there subarus, BMWs and other imports equipted with "garbage can" and just dumpy and annoying sounding exhuast systems. You talk about annoying i get mad just walking past these things going to my bus. You dont know how many times I have thought about taking a monster truck and just crushing these things. Oh and speaking of trucks people at my school (excluding a few) if they get a truck they LOWER it what the hell is up with that.

wow sorry little bit of a rant there

But yes I dont have much experience around cars due to my age but i have done research and the dynomax system seems like it would be a great choice

-Thanks, Al

I too am one for a NICE sounding exhaust.
Coffee-can full of RICER noise is anything but nice sounding.

Deep, throaty rumble with a slight bit of bite on acceleration.
Much like the late 60's musclecar sound.

On both, her 91 Laredo and my 94 Sport, we have new exhausts. FULL, from head to rear bumper. New catalytic converters too. Dynomax SuperTurbos thru the large 2 1/4" stock tailpipe (91).

Switched mine from the wimpy 2" tailpipe to the 91 Laredo...don't know why the factory stepped it down.

Both have a "louder than stock but not enough to get a ticket" sound to them.
Sweeeet.

Since I gave MY throttle body more air to inhale, mine has a bit more growl on take-off.

BTW: Both our Cherokees are DD's

My plan for exhaust is hiflo cat with dynomax muffler and tail pipe...Will sound good and be legal...Here in Oklahoma we don't have safety inspections so in theory you can get away without a cat but if you get caught it's a nice fine...Dunno if anyone would get caught but still a cat has a purpose and I personally feel it's irresponsible not to run one whether its a street vehicle or not...The emissions do the same damage on or off the trails.. Just my opinion though so take it for what it's worth..
