Just bought my first jeep, 1999 cherokee, unfortunately it's got quite a lot of miles on it.... 181,761 to be exact.
Does it have too many miles on the drivetrain to do a 3" bb and put 31's on it
? or should i save the money an rebuild the axle's and tranny first? thanx.

well, i'd drain all the fluid and replace filters where ever possible. there are a lot of cherokees out there with well over 200,000 miles on them, and they still have stock everything, and no rebuilds. if you notice any mechanical issues after the fluid changes, then you may want to look at a rebuild. other than that, you should have no problems putting a lift and tires on it.
i have about 152,000+ miles on mine, and the only thing i need to worry about when the weather gets warmer out is doing a transmission fluid drain and replacing the filter. other than that because of how meticulous i am about oil changes and what not, the thing runs like a champ.

Ive got over 207xxx miles on my 91 with origanal engine, trans, and front axle and it still runs way strong! It leaks oil and gets horrible gas milage but its the best 1500 bucks ive ever spent! Oh and had to replace the rear d35 cause I blew the ring and pinion doing donuts on ice and hitting a dry patch LOL!
