Im gonna have to call some JY's and see whats available.

I would think that you could just bolt everything up loosely and put the weight on it to test the height. Then tighten it down once you get what you want?

Also where could I check to make sure things are level?

I would just use a make shift plumb-bob, I use them also when centering axles for spring perch set ups.

I was refering to the level height wise. But where is the axle suppose to be position on the spring?

Where the pin hole is on the spring and where the pin is on the axle.

I'm in the same boat with sagging rear springs.

What's the difference between the standard and HD OEM springs you can get from Quadratec? Are the HD ones stiffer? Harsher ride?

Are the HD less prone to sagging? If so, the extra $25 per spring is worth it......hate the sagging!!

Do you really wanna spend that kind of money for stock ride height? Think Im gonna go with used springs for like $100 to hold out of lift springs for a year or two.

I have no intentions to do a lift, so as long as I get my normal ride height back, I'll be happy.

Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, with new springs, don't they take a little time to settle into a lower ride height after install?

Settling takes a few days, and its not much of a change. If you dont want to lift it then by all means go with a factory replacement, nothin wrong with that.

in a similar boat but looking for lift. new leafs are one of the more expensive replacements so i'm all for bastard packs. JY's are good but check CL, you save time since they're already pulled i picked up a pair of wagoneer springs for $20. going to try and put it together this weekend; looks promising as the 2nd spring is same length as top xj spring, and they came with an overload spring. i'll keep you posted.

swapped the springs this weekend. first changed the 2" spacers in front for some rusty's 3" coils off of CL. got closer to 3.5"

next did the rear. used wagoneer 4+1 leaf packs (circa '76?). already had 1.5" shackles so i was looking for ~2" from the bastard pack. i was pleasantly surprised to find the #2 leaf in the wagoneer pack was almost exactly the same length as the top xj leaf so no need to cut any. tried a few combinations but in the end it was top xj leaf with 2,3,4 and the overload leaves from the wagoneer. flipped the overload leaf upside down as it had some curve and didn't want the pack to become too stiff too early in the compression. the wagoneer leaves have about the same curve and thickness as the xj leaves so when i took it for a spin, sure enough confirmed it rides very close to the same, maybe a touch stiffer.

all in all, for $25 the donor leaf packs worked really well. netted around 2" inches over the beat stock springs and got an overload leaf.

so now i'm running 31's with ~3.5" lift and some fender trimming. only problem is now i have driveline vibrations. sye time i guess.
