Just as the title states. My rear I am building needs a yoke and I am ok with just a factory one. How hard would it be to pull one in a junk yard. Is it just the u joint straps and pinion bolt. Will it slide off then or be a *****?

The wheels in my local yard are off and they are sitting elevated... Would the e brake hold enough to get the pinion bolt loose?

My friend actually just pulled an 9.25 yoke today. All he brought with him was dewalt impact gun and a gear puller all u do is remove the u joint saddles and undo the pinion bolt and pull. He said the junkyard truck was easier to pull than the one on his truck for some reason

My JY guy probably wouldn't want me opening up a good differential to get ruined. Maybe if I brought the other yoke to seal it up again......

Really? My junkyard couldnt care less what I mess up to get to the part I want, as long as he gets me to part with some hard earned cash. And I love it because he has atleast 10 xjs, and a about 25 wj/zjs

Just did this job, swapping an 8.25 yoke. Impact took nut right off and the yoke pulled off easily by hand. Have an electric impact?

We ordered a new yoke from Q-Tech.. and found out there are two heights on the yoke. 2.75" and 3" total height.. take a tape measure or your old one with you to match up.

Normally a junk yard will pull anything they think is worth more than average before putting the car into the general population. The one nearest me you'll see every imaginable abomination. Multiple transfer cases laying about with half the case removed and the chain hanging out like intestines.

Mine rarely even does that. I think his philosophy is to fix up and sell running vehicles, anything else just gets plopped on the yard.
