how hard to replace a fuel pump in a 86 xj

Default how hard to replace a fuel pump in a 86 xj

Got someone trying to sell me a stock 86 with a bad fuel pump and was wondering how hard is it to replace?

i have pretty much torn a 4.0 apart with another buddy help and rebuild it. i have some background and have friends jsut want to know if its a pain.

well it either in the tank like most or its on the side of the block what motor in it?

From what I remember it's a pretty straightforward job, 2-3 hours max.
If it's inside the tank, you can use the opportunity to check the fuel level sensor as well. Not that it's a big deal, but I liked having a working fuel gauge after driving for a year with a tank that was showing either half-full or completely empty...

Lol i hate the sensor in mine.. Damn floaters.. I can hit the gas and drain an 1/8 tank or slam on the brakes and add on a 1/4! lmao


My only question is... are you positive thats its only issue? I've seen quite a few people call something a "simple fix" when in reality its a hell hole of work.
