Default how do i wire an aftermarket speedometer?

yes i have searched and cant seem to find a simple straight answer. im installing a cage in my xj and building a tube style dash that integrates into the cage. half my gauges on the instrument cluster dont work so im installing new ones. most of them are easy, what im unsure of is the speedo. i have a 96, so its the electronic, gear driven unit.
what type of speedo gauge should i look for and how do i wire it? i fond a nice gauge on jegs but it says for hall effect sensors, i dont know what kind of sensor the xj uses.
and then is it as simple as tapping into the existing sensor wires?

any help is appreciated, im lost with electrical. the extent of my knowledge is wiring stereos and auxillary lighting

Most aftermarket speedometers have to be used with their own sender. Why not get a new gauge cluster that works?

I don't like the look of the stock cluster and my dash consists of tubing. I want a clean look, a few gauges, radio, climate control, and a few switches that control lighting and accessories. I realize this is more work and money, but its the way I want to do it

I suppose that makes sense. Looks like that Autometer one will work just fine.
