how do i know if my tranny is slipping

Model: Cherokee
Engine: 4.0L I6
and as for the atf 4 i read that they changed that recently. It was dexron before. From what i read people said to avoid puttin atf 4 in the tranny and to stick with what was factory recommended which was dex.
