How difficult is it to replace the radiator....

Im thinking about doing it myself. And would this be a good one to put in

Also I want to change the water pump what would you suggest. My cherokee is stock.

Not difficult at all......with your phone, take some pics before u ever turn a wrench. Take more pics as u go (for reference).

While the old rad is out is the perfect time to change the water pump, t-stat and fan clutch. Stick a garden hose in the t-stat hole in the head and flush out thru the water pump hole in the block. Flush the heater core as well.

Go back in with the new pump, then the new stat, the fan clutch and last the new rad and new hoses.

If u go with new heater hoses, now is the time to eliminate the heater control valve (vacuum hose must be capped/plugged). The factory eliminated it '97 up.

Hey djb. What would be the advantage,if any,in eliminating the heater control valve in my '96?

Eliminating the HCV eliminate 5 places for coolant leaks, 1place for a vacuum leak and possible poor heater performance.

Have not replaced the rad in my Cherokee, but I've had great results with NAPA radiators in other vehicles. Perfect fit.
