Default How to change the gear shifter, (automatic) 1996

so im trying to change the shifter **** the gear shifter and ive studied this thing up and down and i just cant figure it out... help? ill take pics and add tomorrow.

like the shifter **** sorry i forgot to put that on there... like drive, reverse neutral park etc...

How do you know this. What about the button that you need to press when you shift. What happens with that?

ok so from beating my self with a shifting ****, when i go to put the new one on how do i perform this, just like push it down hard, or rubber mallet this bad boy down or.. uh

Yank it up to get it off and you can use a rubber malet to put it back on. I've done this when removing the center counsel..

Don't worry about the button nothing will happen. Just yank it off and then push a new one back on. Never had to use a mallet just push it down then test it out.

Job is simple don't overthink it!

Are you joking? Haha, I was pulling pretty hard when mine broke loose and it made me punch myself in the head Like Stryker said, don't push the button, doesn't matter.

I put an aftermarket shifter on and put a micro switch on top to lock my torque converter, here is a pic...Tj
