Actually the REnix systems don't need to be burped. Since 1987, myself and my crew of techs NEVER burped one at the dealership.

This system does not have a radiator pressure cap. Instead the pressure cap is mounted on the coolant pressure bottle. System coolant flows directly through a fully pressurized Hot-Type expansion bottle. Coolant flows through the pressure bottle at all times during engine operation whether the engine is cold or at normal operating temperatures.

Larger coolant volume caused by thermal expansion during engine operation is absorbed by the expansion chamber in the bottle. Air trapped in the system is purged through the pressure cap vent valve during maximum coolant expansion..

 

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^This. I drained/re-filled our '09 'yota RAV4 this past weekend.....it also has a "closed" cooling system (pressurized bottle). Couldn't have been any more easy/any more simple.......and to think, I did not jack the rear end up, park on a steep incline, fill with coolant thru a rad hose or remove a temp sending unit.

 

Yep closed system you do not have to burp, I have never had to do that on mine. Fill the coolant to the line on post inside of the bottle, wait for the car to heat to operating temp and add as needed... I have the same system in my 92 mercury, I do the exact same thing. I never jacked the jeep or pulled the temp sender on the rear of the head.

 

Burping is for babies and not Jeeps.

 

I want to make sure I understand correctly, I fill the bottle put the cap on run until operating temperature than wait for it to cool and refill as needed or can I run it until operating temp with the cap off and fill as needed? Basically how you would do it through the radiator cap if I had one. Have a 1987 remix Cherokee

 

Just let it idle while watching it. Renix can be a bit tricky with the pressurized bottle.
The caps fit poorly and are extremely critical for getting the system to burp itself. Put a new cap on. It's better design Napa 703-1396.

 

Alright thanks! I have never dealt with a closed system before and it seems a bit confusing. I read a bunch of stuff about tilting the jeep this way or that and what not. But basically I just fill the reservoir idle it with the cap on and let it work itself out?

No. You can put a Volvo pressure tank cap on the Renix pressure bottle. Part number above^^
