Default How accurate is KBB?

I came across a 2 door 93 sport. For the age in interior is great. And a few dings in the door. 4.0L 4x4 with 157xxx. They guy wants 2grand. KBB puts it just under a grand. My question is, is that cherokee really worthless? I know the longevity of these jeeps which is why i was so baffled at how cheap KBB puts it.

KBB is the standard for used car dealerships and for most DMV when determining taxes you pay.

Basically the Jeep is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you think it is worth 2000 then buy it. Apparently the owner thinks it is worth two grand and wants that regardless of what KBB says. You can always use KBB as a bargaining chip to bring down the price. But with older vehicles it is hard to determine real value as there are so many variables.

Cherokees, or Jeeps in general seem to retain their value better than most american vehicles. Price variables also have to do with location. Places that have adverse weather seem to bring a premium for 4x4 vehicles.

When I checked on my '94, the KBB and NADA values were both 2500 or so. I can see a '93 being 2k all day long.

The price discrepincy is what got my head scratchin. I figured about 1500$ but kbb was like 600 lower. And since it was the 4.0 and relavtively low miles for its age, i figured it have a slightly higher value than the 900$ kbb said. If it goes down to 900 i will jump on it. Other wise i dont have the money. LOL

x2. Any vehicle for that matter, is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Auto value sites/books like KBB, NADA, etc are mainly used for dealerships and banks/CU (for loans). I wouldn't feel bad giving $1,500, or slightly more depending on how rough the body is, for a '93 Sport with those miles. More if it's a standard
