hose hanging from differential?

I have a hose connected to my front differential that is not hooked to anything else at the moment... I read somewhere that this is probably the vent line? is this true? it is about pinky finger size in circumference and is white on the end laying on the ground. I'll snag a pic to just to show you.

and three times: yes, vent hose . Its only 'connected' on one side
Attach it somewhere high with a tie-rap.
Mine is now tucked between firewall and airbox (the one on the throttle body).
