Default horn problem

maybe someone has has this problem or can explain what is happening.

about two weeks or so ago at 3am in the morning the horn in my 98 jeep grand cherokee just started to go off for no apparent reason.

after messing around thinking it was the anti theft ingaged and not being able to shut it off i disconnected the batter.

the next day i reconnected it and the horn started to immediatly go off and refused to stop.

ended up trying to replace the relay but the new relay didn't stop the problem.

so right now i am driving the jeep with no horn relay so the horn is not going off.

it starts and runs with no problem so its not the anti theft device but i can not figure out why the horn is just going off like this.

ps i am not a mechanic so my understanding is limited..

thanks

ryan

Haven't had a horn in my one jeep for over 4 years now. Granted i didn't have the same problem you are having, my clockspring crapped out on me. Personally i don't care that i don't have a horn, just buy an airhorn at walmart and stick your hand out the window and honk it everytime you get mad

well my biggest problem with not having the horn is the anti theft protection. now it can go off and no one will ever know.

whats the clockspring?

i've had two or three people tell me the problem is probably in the steering column.

i had a mechanic that was goign to check it out but after all the toher stuff he's never checked it and i am not sure i want him checking it
