Default Horn issue.

Okay to start with, I have an '84 XJ Pioneer, 2.8 V6 with a 5-speed.

I searched around the forums and I seem to be having a different issue.

My horn will momentarily (sometimes a chirp, other times a blare) honk almost exclusively while turning the steering wheel to the right. While turning onto another road, lane changes, sometimes while moving the steering wheel to the right while sitting at a stop light.

The guy I bought it from had to replace the ignition switch prior to selling it to me.

The issue now is that my horn will honk without the pin and spring inside the plastic sleeve where the metal contact is (see picture).

So what I have noticed (reference attached picture below), is that when I do turn the wheel, the metal contact actually slides back and forth under the sleeve.

I'm wondering if maybe that movement is contacting with other metal in the steering column and causing it to honk?

I'm really at a loss here, any ideas on where to go next?

is the plastic going through the wheel missing completely? if the spring or the metal pin hits any other metal it will blow. It will shift from side to side as the wheel turns. The broken plastic piece through the wheel is the only thing that makes it move with the wheel

Get new PC?

No, the plastic sleeve is still present.

To clarify, as of right now, the horn button mount is completely torn down, the pin and spring are out of the steering wheel, and it is still honking randomly when I turn the wheel to the right.

Some help, please? It's really frustrating because my Jeep keeps honking at people and pissing them off or startling them.
