Ok my hood release cable seems to have broken...Anyone know how to get the hood open or to the latches easily to release them?

If the vicegrips on the cable by your kick panel doesn't work you can disassemble the two latches through the headlight buckets but it is very difficult unless your hands are very small or you have someone who has small hands to help you. You must do both sides. Then you can pop it up.

Do this. Crawl under your jeep with a flashlight and look up in between the radiator and the engine and you will see the center swivel for the hood rods.Reach up and grab ahold of it and twist it and your hood will pop right open.

I must just have short arms b/c I've heard that but I can't reach the right spot to release the latches. If the OP can reach his it is certainly worth a try.

Sweet this worked...Now how do I re-attach the cable..or should I say how is it suppose to fit into that latch mechanism...? If anyone has any pics of what it should look like that would be awesome...

I am beginning to think that might be a good plan at this rate....I did figure out how to re-attach the cable but it was a major pain in the rear end...Opening the hood was quite a chore as well..had to get the proper angle and such to leverage the latch mechanism..all in all a major pain but much easier then tearing the front end apart...
