does anyone know if there is a way to make the hood on a 1996 jeep cherokee sport not close so low.. it's about 1/2" to 1" lower than the fenders and front end

How are the little spring things on each side? Does the hood have a lot of "play" in it if you push it down with it closed?

You have to take the headlight out of the side you want to adjust up or down in order to pull or add shims. Maybe the battery too. I can not remember.

That was what I was thinking as well.. if the hood is tight, adding some washers or something (shims) under the latch bar will raise it up.
I think the bars are part of the springy part.

I checked my 95 (the hood is level with the fenders if not slightly higher) and there's no play at all if I push down on the hood.
