It feels like it's about time to bleed my brakes, and I'm intrigued by the speedbleeder system (http://www.speedbleeder.com/) but don't feel like shelling out $30+ to get some for my aging XJ. I was thinking that I could just use a piece of plastic tubing I have laying around and install a cheap check valve on one end, and hose clamp the other end to the stock bleeder valve on the caliper. Then I would run another tube from the check valve to a reservoir to catch the old fluid.

Do you see any drawbacks to this? You can get a 3 psi check valve from McMaster for about $10 and then be able to quick bleed your brakes by yourself as if you had speedbleeders, except that you'd have to move the tube from wheel to wheel for each bleed, which isn't a big deal.

Let me know if this makes sense. Seems like a cheap and easy alternative to speed bleeders and other alternatives for bleeding brakes on your own.
