im thinking of taking the d.t. off of the ends so that it will seal up, and if that works i might leave it....... the thing ran about 10degrees cooler so if i work a little more i will keep it

you're not lying, your'e just wrong.

intake temperature/flow hasn't got anything to do with how cool the motor runs. flow through the radiator is all that matters when it comes to cooling.

toss the duct taped POS and go buy something cheapo to put on it. hell, go to the junkyard. I guarantee you can find something there too.

If he said it dropped 10* then so be it...no one but him saw it....saying that it didnt do something that he saw with his own eyes and argueing with him just shows how ignorant you guys are....give him a break...no one wants to put up a thread and be bashed....you dont have to believe it.

i saw a whale at starbucks the other day, he was driving a dodge viper, and pulled into the handicap spot sideways, taking up 2 spots while he was perfectly capable of walking.

it happened because i saw it and posted it on the internet.

So lemme get this straight. Someone posts something up on a technical board, that is clearly arguably false...and because we are a bunch of feel good fellows and wanna hold hands all day, we cant attempt to bring light to otherwise false tech?

Lets say this gentleman was right, and it did go down 10 for whatever reason. Is that a result of cooler airflow in the intake? NO. So why tout it as such? Are other people now to believe that installing a cold air intake lowers engine operating temperature?

That is why this is a technical discussion board, and not his personal website where he can post write ups or information. Everything posted is up for scrutiny, discussion, and possibly correction.

With that said, allowing cooler airflow to your filter provides no lowering of operating temperature, they just arent related in any way.

My reply wasnt meant to dig on you...it was just addressing the type of attitude that because something is posted we are "ignorant" to question/scrutinize it. As if everything that is posted on the internet is infallible in nature.

i am just trying to get some advice on how to do it better, the first pics were a joke but then the tube was temp. until i could get a pipe... i am not good with much in the way of the engine. i found the "plans" for the intake online and thought id try it out.

Good for you man. It is that type of freedom and willingness to play around that will eventually make you more confident with a wrench. Course, the opposite can be true too if you do something that damages your vehicle. So, to encourage the former and help to minimize the latter, keep posting your mods and let the forum help to guide you through the conceptualization.

I applaud you bro,
s
