Block is the same but you will need the HO electronics and HO exhaust to swap everything. Other solution is you keep the head and manifolds of the Renix engine and you swap just the block.

On my Dads 88' Cherokee he had them put in a 4.0 HO engine out of a 93'. He did it when it was flipped in 96'. The insurance was paying for the repairs and engine replacement. The Jeep dealership that was doing the job offered the upgrade for only an extra 1200, because they found someone selling a whole engine computer and wiring harness in the local classifieds and dad had to be OK with the no warranty. Engine still runs strong to this day. We used synthetic oil in it too.
I wish i knew all the mods they did , but I'm told they used the 88 exhaust and manifolds and just changed the engine, computer and wiring harness.

Use the head, intake off the HO use the block off the 88 if its rebuildable the renix use knock sensors which is plus for strokers because a lot of people run into issues with the compression ratio with the strokers. JMO
