So some douche-bag some my radio FACEPLATE the other day (as dumb as that is...) so for the last 2 days I've had the joy of silence in the car.

Well today before I parked, I straightened out the wheels before turning off the jeep, and every time I turn, I get this hiss coming from the column/under dash. I haven't spent too much time checking it out because its dark.

Car seems to run/drive/shift/stops/4wd engages/heat works/etc so what could be making this sound?

Now that you have silence in the car you can hear the steering pump? Might be on it's way out.

 

Kinda sounds like a pump. Mine makes a weird honking noise from the column when I turn. It only does it at certain spots and usually only when making sharp turns like backing out of the driveway.

Mine makes a squeak from the column at certain points, and all power steering pumps make noise. Mine sounds like chewbacca.

 

It seems fine but I will definitely check it out after work...thanks for the tips.

un plug the brake booster vacuum line and plug the line going to the motor bet its vacuum leak from back side of booster around the rod to brake pedal

 

check your power steering fluid its something with your power steering but its normal

 

hissing noise inside cab power steerring under hood ?

 

op didnt catch all that lol its 4:38 am havnt slept lol its something with the brake booster probably unless you got some debris in your steering column
