The stock mechanical fan draws some major cfm, presuming all is in tip top condition including the shroud.....the stock efan ain't too shabby either. Hopefully a new water pump does the trick.

I really doubt that is the problem. I'm just saying it would be an instant classic. Short of somehow reversing the polarity, or the fan mounted in reverse, I can't think of any way for that to happen. Stranger things have happened though. LOL

post some pics for more opinions on your setup.
What brand fans?
In my opinion, putting a fan in front and one behind will reduce flow, not increase it.
Let's say they are 100 cubic feet per minute.
That rating is made with no "blockage".
Now, once the air is moving 100 cfm, the second fan cannot push it any faster, the second fans blade merely keep up with the flow.
That being said, the second fan motor and mounting arms create blockage for thefirst fan.
Keep one more thing in mind.
A fan belt can put 5 horsepower into a mechanical fan.
Does anyone make a 5 horsepower electric fan?

Have u checked to see if you were getting oil to the top of your head when u changed the head gasket. mine was overheating changed thermostat no fix drained flushed coolant and installed new hoses no fix, popped core plug pulled and replaced water pump no fix popped core plug again pulled head cleaned blasted head cleaned water ports reinstalled head noticed oil was thick in head and on rocker cover got to the point of adjusting rockers and noticed i was not getting oil to top of heads to lubricate the head and rockers, so dropped pan more sludge everywhere oil pump was completely clogged with sludge removed and replaced oil pump with high flow pump reinstalled everything and now run a cool 150-195 everywhere even highway. now i'm one a 12 week seafoam treatment 3 week intervals to help clean up the sludge i could not get to in the engine. hope this helps good luck.
