Default High speed weave.

I had a few problems with the selecter on the Transfer case of my '95 Cherokee. That is pretty much fixed now, but I noticed that when in 4WD the car drives ok, but when changed to 2WD the weave is very pronounced and quite alarming. It might be worth bearing in mind that cruising speeds on British motorways is 70MPH (Definately no more than that officer!!!) I used to have a Grand Cherokee, which would handle fine even beyond that. Is it normal for the Cherokee to be that sloppy, or should I be looking at the steering and suspension bushes?

No. That is not normal. Does it do it only when you shift from 4-2 on the fly? If so, you've probably got either a bearing or some sort of issue causing one of the wheels to drag.

Cheers guys, I didn't change on the fly. The change rod on the TC was set wrong, so it wasn't engaging drive properly. I've set it ok now, but I had set it to 2WD in a parking area. I could only drive it for a couple of miles, 'cos it felt too bad to drive in close traffic. I pulled over and eventually got it back into 4WD and it felt a bit more solid.
I have another car, so I'll get the Jeep up on the ramps to check it out underneath. I can use my other car to go and collect the bits if I need them. With the weather so poor just now, I hope it will be a quick fix.
I'll get the tracking checked out when I'm done, and keep you posted.
