high oil pressure problems 95 cherokee

Default high oil pressure problems 95 cherokee

my oil pressure is reading up around the 6 on the gauge when idling n when on the gas moves up to almost topped out to the 8. this just started happening n the pressures been gaining n fluxuating in the past week.
all helps appreciated

Pull the sensor off and clean it out. It is the 1 wire duwicky that sits above our oil filter housing. Pretty simple. Don't forget to clean the connector too. Prolly just got some thing stuck in there and that is what is causing the fluctuation.

Sounds like the sensor near the distributor to me...Tj

Brake clean works great because it is high pressure and it does cut grease pretty well. Soaking it in some seafoam wouldn't hurt. (edit: seafoam would cost as much as a new sensor lol) I mean anything that cut grease will due. But definitely spray it out with Brake clean

i just took a look inside that plug n the part that comes off, with the wire has two female ports is there suppose to be two male prongs inside where you plug it into?

I dunno yours is a 95 mine is a 87 I have only one connection.

there are two opening but only the one side has the metal connect. my bad. ill clean it out n see..

i think i may be looking to replace but thinking about it, if it where bad would it still give me readings on my gauge??

Generally it just won't read correctly. No point in replacing just clean it out. Plus I think the one from your year may be more expensive. To replace an old 87 was only 5-10 bucks.
