hey everyone, i recently cleaned up my iac sensor because of some random high idling in my 96 xj. it ran perfectly for a week, no high idles, and then today started the same random high idle while in park. could it be my tps? a vacuum leak? any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

Pull the throttle body and clean that, too. The throttle body gasket, if you have one, is a paper gasket. I bought some gasket material from Tractor Supply. It comes in a roll and found it with the switches, etc..An auto parts store should have it, but i never looked there. Remove the TPS, IAC, and the MAP sensor and clean all the ports and passages in the throttle body only using CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. Check all the vacuum lines. There is a port on the side of the MAP sensor. Check that for cracks. Clean the electrical connections for all 3 using electrical cleaner. Let it dry. I use cans of compressed air for electronics to speed that up. Or use an air compressor if you have it. Look for any corrosion or loose pins while you are there. And, just because, clean the engine grounds. Thats where i would start. All easy stuff.
