High idle on 96 4.0 xj?

High idle on 96 4.0 xj?

After my xj runs for a while like an hour drive on the hwy if i put it in park it will idle higher than normal. After i turn it off then turn it back on the idle is normal. What could cause this.

Engine: 12 hole bosch Injectors

Loose intake/exhaust manifold bolts...very common issue check with wrench .

I know its not either of those. I have had them all loose to install new exhaust manifold. Ive owned it for a few years and it has idled like this since the day i got it.

Engine: 4.0 ltr

Clean your IAC, throttle body (and valve!) and check your TPS. These three are involved in your idle rpm's.

If not fixed: check for intake leaks 9but it appears yours is doing is when warm, not all the time?)
