Default High Beams not staying on

When I pull the stalk to turn on my high beams, they come on, but turn off immediately after I let go. It doesn't "click" in like it used to. Getting tired of having to hold the stalk when I want high beams lol

I would guess that that is your switch. I don't know what the year, engine, et cetera is, but you can find the wiring diagrams on your own to hunt the problem for sure. Generally, your local library has a database or books with wiring diagrams provided that you don't have an Haynes of Chilton's manual. Also, Cruiser54, a user here has a website with many factory service manuals.

Mine was doing that. The switch for the 93 is actually located under the dash, connected to the stalk by a rod. It was getting bound up and not locking. A little wiggle to get it to line up and it's been working great.

That makes sense. Mine's a 92. I've been under the dash recently installing a remote start system, so I might have botched something when I was down there. Thanks, I'll check it out.

On my 1992 Laredo the stalk that pulls from the dash activates the power to the headlamps. Pulling the multifunction switch's lever on the steering column switches the voltage from +12v low to +12v high beams. Is that not how your lights work, too? Does the dash indicate that the high beams should be on while the low beams are on?

Low beams and high beams work as intended. When I pull the stalk to enable the high beams, they turn on and the dash indicator lights. the issue is that as soon as I let go of the stalk, the high beams turn off and it goes back to low beams. the stalk will not "lock" on to keep the high beams on

I would guess that that is the switch. I was confused about that switch being under the dash, though.

Did you figure whether it was the multifuncion switch or not?
