just scroll down a bit and the two versions are there
didnt keep reading down so dont know if someone already said, but these black one your looking at arent great, when i put the H4 lights there was barely any light, the black housing isnt suitable for our square housings. And the projector itself was cheap, distorted the light. So just a heads up, ive seen other projectors that work really well though, i opt out of the projectors but i putting eyelids to my HID dont blind on coming drivers.

Been meaning to post up some info on the “kit” I put together.

I only tried an eBay kit once. Its was pure garbage, so I swore never to buy another kit again. I know enough about what parts top order that I can put together a “better” kit.

So, here’s what I did (all parts from ebay):

- 2 Hella OE ballasts ($95)
- 2 Philips D2R HID bulbs (D2R a little better for halogen housings) ($80)
- Relay harness ($10)
- D2R to H4 adapter shield ($20)
- H4 conversion lenses (glass lens) ($30)
- Total spent - $235

It’s not perfect, but I have much less up-splash and glare that I did the first time I tried this without the shields on my first XJ. Light output is pretty good too…..better than stock. Would projectors make this perfect….sure. But for the money and effort required to do this install, it’s the next best option.

And, I have not gotten flashed by on-coming traffic once, so the glare might even be less than I think.

Any way to get any light output pics? I have some HID 4500's from DDM tuning in a pair of AUTOPAL All glass headlights and the output is decent but it has some weird *** glare on the left and right side. It doesnt go very far to be blinding as i have never been flashed but is annoying to me. Mine also have 2 bars that stick up on each side of the light output as well let me see if i can find a pic of mine.

I've actually got a kit on my jeep that's the best/brightest set up i've seen. I got the headlights from quadratec, they're the rampage ones. And the hid kit from xenoneyes.com. I have the dual beam kit but i honestly never use my brights cause i have no need. So you could get the single beam kit if you're short on money. But that's about the best upgrade i've done to my entire jeep, besides the lift of course.

^^ Can't see too well off to the sides on lows it seems like.
I have the Delta kit in for now. Appears to be about the same output as above but better flood lighting on lows.

I know on the bmw forums the guys with the older bmw's retrofit acura tsx (i think) projector lenses in and have AMAZING cut-off lines. I don't think it would be too difficult with the simple housings the xj has. The blue/purple hid's on high-end cars are not because the bulb is that color (they are white 4300k) but the cut-off is so sharp. It was be sweet for an XJ to have high quality lighting. Who wants to try it?

I would be willing to try, always looking to make my jeep look as clean as possible.. But how much would a conversion like this cost and are there any other projector setup i can use..?

Take my costs listed above and add in about another $100 for some projectors off eBay. So anywhere from $400-500 max in parts. Then its just labor.

For fitment purposes, I'd recommend Audi TT projectors. I believe they are small enough to not create any major clearnace issues when retro-fitting.

ok, well all i would need is the projector cuz i had a glass housing with hids in already would like to have that perfect line.. so to do this, i would be unsealing the housing matting the projector and resealing.. that would be all correct??

If you have good fab skills, sure....its that easy. There's some cutting of the rear of the housing to mate the projector. Also, if your current HID kit doesn't use an OE style HID bulb, you'll have to swap the rebased bulbs for the OE style.

Well, your glass lens headlamp holds an H4 bulb. The OE HID bulbs have a different base....can't recall the technical name. You more than likely have rebased HID bulbs with H4 bases, making them "plug and play" for your application.
