HID headlights
how can a man go about puttin hids' in a xj. i am starting to see them more and more. an i love how they looked. ive done some researchin, and we all know an xj has a whole housing thats a head light. cant replace bulbs. hids' are abulb that and they got relays or wat ever and all different kinds of wiring and etc etc. do they make housings that go in these jeeps that have bulb inserts in them. then hook the wiring up and everything. do any of yall have them, if so. how did u go about it?

if your talking about the sealed beam headlights 6054's there are replacements you can get that convert it to a drop in type that uses the 9003 bulbs I just recently installed hid's on my 97 cherokee sport and man what a difference you can find the new housings on ebay and i would say to get the ones with the projector lenses in them you will see what i am talking about and it helps distribute the light more evenly also hid kits range from 100-150 and you will need to modd the housings a little because of the transformers that have to be installed i just cut some slots out on the fiberglass core support area and ran them behind the grill ill see if i can get some pictures of everything for you i dont know if it will be tonight though. HID on jeeps really helps out alot due to the fact its hard to see with the stock headlights also find out the legal limit of wattages for your state befor you buy your lights and make sure you get the dual beam hid 9003's so you will still have a highbeam function, but to be honest highbeam sucks compared to the hid lowbeam when its on but it will let you pass safety inspections if you have them in your state by giving you both options
all in all if you do this your self it shouldnt cost more than 200 dollars all together unless you have some hook ups on hid bulbs
like i said ill try to get pictures posted of mine

HIDs need to be in a projector style headlamp to be truly affective. Tossing HIDs in a sealed beam or reflector style headlamp do not throw off the intended beam of light. You have more deflection in the output, therefore blinding oncoming traffic.
Why do you think some of those civic rice-boys purple/blue headlights blind everyone?
Now it would be cool to take these:
and modify them to accept a projector housing and use them as the low beam. Then use a set of auxiliary lights as the high beam with the lows on at the same time.

i gotta get new housings anyhow, cause most all jeeps are all sealed, and cant just replace the bulb, its all one light. so im gonna buy the projector style, and a hid kit.

Projectors are the way to go.
Lots of people put HID bulbs in non-projector housings, it's illegal, blinds everyone, and doesn't work as well as projectors. You'll love them once you get them aimed.
