Unhappy Hi to All, and Help Plz

Hi to Everyone on this forum, Jim from Kinross in Scotland here!!
Just got myself a 1998 Cherokee 2.5TD with around 127000miles on the clock, and just love the beast, however I appear to have a lack of power and she won't do more than 70 mph, changed the oil and filter and freshh fuel, absolutely no smoke when starting from cold and she appears to run smoothly enough so hoping I've not bought a Jeep with a major problem, any idea's folks on what could be the cause??

Welcome to CF Jim.
Check the wastegate on the turbo. If it's disconnected you're not getting any extra power from the turbo. It can become disconnected because of a missing c-clip, or it could have a bad diaphragm, or it could be a loose/broken vacuum line. Either way, you're not getting boost and only running on the little 2.5 diesel engine for power.
Check it out and get back with us.
