Wheelin around today with my two youngest boys when It started raining in my jeep! Slow infrequent rain, but raining nonetheless.

The main stock roof rack rails (the outer ones) are starting to pull up away from the body! The plastic between rails and body are also shot.

Any tips on how to fix? Think a couple of tek screws and some silicone will do the trick or do i need to get more involved?

Gonna mount a Rage roof basket to it so it needs to support that and the tire when i throw it up there as well as anything else. Thx in advance!!!

 

Silicone may work till you put the rack on then you may have issues again, added weight of the spare and etc..
best to remove and inspect for rust, repair and replace the rails.

 

Anyone know of a write up or info on redoing the roof bars/rack?
