New to this world of cybertalk, but I have no other recourse other than the dreaded dealer... My problem is this, my 2000 Cherokee Sport, 4.0 auto, occasionally sputters and acts like it wants to quit. It seems to surge and purge only when stopped and doesn't act up when moving. The tach keeps going down and it starts to sputter. I changed the plugs and the coil pack, but now think it is in the fuel system. Any ideas? Thanx

here is what i went through and it will only take maybe 30 minutes. I wish I would have checked it first than swapping out sensors. And if that is your problem then it will be less than five dollars to fix.

Hook a test fuel pressure gauge up to the test port on your fuel rail and turn the key to on. If you have anything less than 31 PSI you have a bad fuel pump.
