I think it might be a summit racing hood scoop. I saw them at www.summitracing.com for $50. It's a 38" L hood scoop, non-functional but can be cut to be functional. i'm seriously considering it. My jeep's black and so is the scoop. The gap might not be as noticeable.

Buddy just put one of those on his caviler and the best thing to do is screw it down with some small self tapers his flew off after the first bit of rain two days later.

Well yes I think it is a stick on hood scoop and that's what makes me remember seeing it. Howler if there is going to be a transplanted motor it may as well be a HEMI!!!

I sure hope he isn't running stock axles. I honestly can't stand chevy small block motors any more. They are in everything from pos cars to pos trucks. I just wonder where everyone's originality went. I've been seriously considering a 5.2L swap or just stroke the 4.0L. Chevy motors are over rated.

IMHO, I believe the reasons that SBC motors are as popular as they are:

1. Availability of parts whether it be OEM or performance.
2. Basic uniformity and interchangability. SBC from the 267 up to 400SB have the same external measurements. Many parts can "cross-over"
3 Lineage: Given its muscle-car bloodline, many people think that the SBC, no matter in which form it arises, automatically has HP (not true). Just because it is the same motor that was in (insert year/model Chevy here).

IF you ever go to a streetrod show every other car has a 350 SBC. No matter what make car it is. I think that your engine should stay true to your vehicle manufacture. Ford/Ford, GM/GM, Mopar/Mopar
If you want to cram a motor in an engine bay...shouldn't it "look" like it's supposed to be there? A.K.A. "Looks stock."

If you do put a hood scoop on do it properly and have it blended with the existing hood so there are no gaps and get one that's functional not just for looks otherwise IMHO complete waste of cash.. My buddies brother put one on an S10 4x4 he built and it was functional and looked like it was apart of the hood not just screwed on..looked good and worked very well..

it will be functional. i think the summit scoops are non fnctional but u can cut them and change that. i dont want this for looks but to let out someof the heat and cool the motor some. i have a thread going where im considering vents on the hood but still unsure looking at other options such as scoops. i like how scoops give that agressive look and also vent heat.

x2 on the chevy motors. I wish I could stick a 360 in my cherokee. This might be a dumb question but does anyone know the difference between an SBC and a BBC motor?

Everything. One is a big block and one is a small block, so all of the diminsions of the motor are different than that of the SBC. HTH!!

Yeah One is a GM motor (350) and the other is a Mopar(360)
