here is the list of parts i have/can have help me get 4wd
so I have a very low mileage '97 2wd cherokee
the aw4 in the 2wd jeep('97) is nice, I read it's more trouble then it's worth to convert said transmission to 4wd.
I have a good deal on a '98 trans/tcase with 80k.
I do have a '93 4wd AW4 with high mileage (23 spline)
can I buy the '98 trans and use the tail housing off the '93?
everything i speak of are 4.0 aw4's
i have some semi built axles to go into jeep when i do 4wd swap.(d30/8.8", 4.88's aussie locked, chromo etc)

ur better off putting in the t-case from the 98 in because (not sure) i think that the input shaft spline count is different from the 93. some people may say that its not worth it, but everything is practically bolt-on if ur using stock parts

my main questions are trans related. i know that '97 trans is only a 100% bolt in to a '97. it is my understanding i can use any -'97 23spline trans with a few splices in the wire harness. also from what i gather is the speed sensor in '98+ will not work in a 97 or older. I'm wondering if i could use a tail housing off of a '93 AW4 and put it on the '98 to alleviate any speed sensor problems i may run into
