sounds like it's just your 4wd lever bushings are worn out. the linkage will tap against the side of the floor/tranny tunnel at take-off.

if not, then it's likely a bad u-joint on your rear driveshaft.

I just had this same problem. Iy would happen very faintly in 2wd but in 4wd it would be very loud. I swapped Drive shafts and it went away. Since my u joints were almost new I assume it's either the centering ball in the cardan joint or the slip joint. Im leaning toward the centering ball because it had quite a bit of play.

Just had the same issue. It was the centering ball. Not a hard thing to replace, cost about $50.

Well a sye will help if you have drive line vibes. Here's what you need to do tho instead of guessing. Pull the front shaft drive around see if the prob goes away. If it does your front shaft is the prob and needs some work done to it. If it doesn't then your prob could be drive line vibs which yes a sye would fix. Altho drive line vibs dont usualy kick in until high speeds which makes me suspect the ffront DS.

Cheap is a relative term ...Your gonna spend a few hundred on one no matter how you go about it. When I get one it will prob be the RE hack n tap.

I did give you some input and now I am going to kindly tell you to search SYE there is more info on SYE's than I ,one man, could possibly tell you.
