Default Help with a stuck hood

So I have a 2000 cherokee sport and I just put a 1997 hood on fit great, but when I tried to pop the hood the latch goes all the way out and stays out I reached under and pulled the hood wire and got passenger side to open but drivers side won't pop no matter what I try! I heard I could take headlight off and there is 2 bolts and if I take off it will pop open? I really need some advice on how to open! Help is appreciated!

Now there is some potentially very handy info!

My 74 Jag (XJ) (Chev 8 now), has dual cables, but the latches are rearward, nearer the windshield.

My problem was lack of lube in the cable and latch assembly. The latch was easy for the cable I opened the hood finally and used WD40 for 2 days spraying about 3 times a day then a light machine oil 3-1 that I dripped into the end and let it drain down toward the dash also. That was 4 yrs ago and has worked perfect since, just took a little time was all.
