OK, so I have been researching this for a while (before any tries to flame on), but I have not found the problem. Here's the story...I've owned the jeep for about 2 years now. Ever since I've owned it this has been the problem. The jeep has always eventually started so I never gave it much thought. However after 2 years I have finally become annoyed with it. The fuel pump always primes when ignition turned on, after filling up with gas the jump has a bit of a start and then cranks more before starting (only does that after re-fueling), and I have a CEL for multiple misfires (feels fine when driving but has a rough idle). I've replaced the spark plugs, new battery, and CPS with no luck. After installing a new CPS (mopar) the thing would start up instantly at the shop. We turned it on and off about 15 times and it was perfect. About 1 month later the same crap of not starting properly came back. The last thing to note is that after the jeep turns over there is a lot of rich gas smell in the air. Oh, and also I can take my key out of the ignition when the jeep is running--not sure if that makes any difference.
Can anyone help point in the right direction of what could be the issue? I don't want to blindly throw money at the problem.
Thanks!

I fought what I thought was heat soak for ever until I did the neon injector mod and found out my injectors were leaking and caused so starts. Just a thought.

The temp gauge is almost always right in the middle. I noticed that one time last year after driving for quite a while and sitting idle in traffic that it went a tiny bit above dead center, but went down after I could start moving again. I've never had any overheating issues. I did find that my water pump needed a new seal and was leaking coolant so that's fixed and replaced--maybe that was the culprit of the temp gauge that one time.

I've been considering putting in some refurbished 4 hole injectors, but didn't want to spend the cash if that wasn't the issue. Sounds like maybe I need to start there though. Would leaking injectors cause multiple cylinder misfires too?

I forgot to mention that the longer the jeep sits the faster it starts up, which is why I thought it was heat soak for a while too. But the strange thing is that it has to sit for like 2 days before it cranks up right away, so it's a lot longer of a wait then for the jeep to just get cool. I could wait 12 hours in a parked garage at 70 degrees and it wouldn't start up any faster. But it seems that after 2 or 3 days it turns over almost instantly.
