Default Help Starter wire shot sparks now no crank

Buddy was changing his oil on his 94 XJ when accidentaly touched filter wrench to starter wire. It shot sparks and now no lights or anything and will not crank. Checked all the fuses I know to check. Any ideas?

look for this box by battery check the wires coming out and in for juice one should have a big round section on it that would be a fuseable link inside check both sides of it with test light

Thanks for your suggestions.
I ended up trying a few of them but then thought about things I have encountered on other vehicles. I disconnected both battery terminals for a few minutes then reconnected them and it was back to normal and started right up.
