I'm new to the jeep thing.I'm wanting to get a rear locker for my xj,but I'm not sure which one to go with .Right now I'm hung in between the Detroit e-z lock and the powertracks lock right .What is everyones opinion on these two.

It all depends on what rear you have, I would not even bother putting any money into the d35 IMO.

 

if you have a 8.25 id go for the powertrax, detroits are good lockers but are expensive their price comes from their indestructibiliy factor, unless you have an 88 or a 44 id skip the detroit but a powertrax would be a good way to go

 

I'm running a D44 with a 4.11 so this is the reason that I'm wondering which one to go with

 

If you have the money then go Detroit. If you want a locker that will last they are the best short of a selectable. JMHO of course.

Either locker will do it's job and lock. Detroits are known for their strengths. Lockrights are known to get the job done and cheap. This doesn't mean they break often, which they don't actually, but their design isn't as stout as the detroit. Think about your tire size and how much you abuse the rear end and base your decision on that. Smaller tires: lockright. Larger tires: detroit.

My personal experience with lunchbox lockers has been with powertrax. I've run the lockright in both ends of all my vehicles (except this cherokee since they don't offer it for the 8.25, except for the no-slip) and i haven't managed break it or even wear it out with 33's and 31's. $250 and instant traction is worth it.

 

yea its lik $220 for a front lockright or aussie (same thign almost) but hte rear "powertrax no slip" locker is like $500 i think or somewhere around there...
