Ok. So let's say hypothetically that when I do bypass the connector AND slot the hole, it STILL won't start. Then what do I do?

Is it cranking OK? did you replace that battery? FSM says it needs to be over 300 RPM before it will fire. It's never a bad idea to check the flex-pate torque converter bolts since they are known to loosen.

Haven't replaced the battery yet. And I tightened the flex plate bolts not too long ago. I went out of town for the weekend, so I'll do the connector and slot the hole on Thursday.

Is there any way to slot the hole rather than just drill it bigger?

I happen to own allot of chainsaws, so I have chainsaw files all over. Right here on my desk are 3 or four. They are cheap, a 7/32's is likely what I would use to extend/make a 1/4 inch slot.

Sure. You saw the photo of the factory CPS that was slotted, right?

I wonder what spacer a guy might use. Thinking maybe a folded business card for around 36 thou? Maybe a little close, Idk. A little contact cement, let the flywheel eat it. Sheez, shouldnt need to go there, something else is wrong. What say you Pete?

Somebody posted, "select the next largest drill bit than won't fit in the hole, drill it out, and install "

Who was that?

Just drill the hole out to 3/8" and be done with it.
