step one:remove 4 small bolts that hold driveshaft to rear
step two: pry shaft forward
step three:remove big nut in the middle of where the shaft was bolted
step four:tap yolk off with hammer
step five : pop seal out with big screwdriver
step six: tap new seal in
then reverse steps 4-1

is it a Dana 35? If so you have a crush sleeve that complicates things a little but it's pretty easy.
If you over torque, or under torque, the pinion nut when putting it back together you can have some issues.
Let me know and I might be able to send you some info

good point almost all rears have crush sleaves that set the pressure on the pinion gears...if you crank down real hard you can mess up the setup so once the pinion nut stops don't keep yarding on it , it's a locking nut so it won't back off

i have the same problem but in the front. Im guessing its no different. I have a 2000 grand cherokee laredo. Im looking at a jeep oem online store and its saying inner and outer pinion seal? which one do i need for the front? also do i have crush sleeves in mine as well or no?
