Default Help!! Popping clunking noise under jeep cherokee

I have a 99 jeep Cherokee with a 6 inch lift...and i have been having this popping clunking noise coming from the front almost seems like right under the floor... It happens when I brake and when I hit bumps... Anyone else have this problem?

What shape is your trans mount in? Anything loose in the exhaust?

see if you can move the t-case up, you'll be able to see a bad tranny mount if theres any play in it.

Also make sure the control arms are tight on the body end, they clunk around when loose

A popping or clunking noise is either due to a loose or worn out part allowing extra play, or something is binding. Are all bushings, TRE's, and U joints in good shape? Do you have an adjustable track bar?

Did you get a fixed one that is a proper length for your lift or did you get a relocation bracket? Because that is probably going to cause the geometry to be off, causing a potential binding issue...

Tranny mounts are easy, drop the crossmember and use an 18mm 6 point to get the two bolts out from the tranny housing. I had to use a 3 foot breaker bar on mine. Make sure you don't strip the bolt.

Check the trackbar bolt, I had creaking sounds when I would turn the wheel and hit bumbs and my track bar bolt was loose.

The control arm mounts may not look loose to the hand, have someone put it in reverse and tap on and off the brakes so the jeep move a few inches at a time abruptly. Look at the LCAs.

Also have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth (semi violently) while you look at the front steering.
