Default Help please

98 XJ stock

Does the mount for the steering damper thread into the tie rod end? Or is it just super corroded? Trying to drop the oil pan and the bolt/stud that the steering damper mounts to is in my way.

Never mind pitman arm puller. It was a tapered hole

I've dropped several pans and never removed any steering components.

Completely unnecessary.

Well looks like you got it, but the other post is right. You can get the pan out without touching the steering. Since you did though, good time to upgrade those tie rod ends.

Well I would love to see how u get the pan out without removing that stud. Anyone in Louisville Kentucky come show me how lol. I pulled the transmission mounts and jacked the transmission up and put a jack between the frame and the front axle and jacked it up a little still couldn't get it out

Well to be honest, I've had my jeep lifted for so long I forgot what it's like to have all that stuff packed in tight. When I did mine it was with a six inch lift, so there is more clearance. So my apologies! Unlifted you would likely need to disconnect the shocks on both sides at the bottom mounts, drop the links(the ones you mentioned) on the axle and allow the axle to drop, then pull it forward. Plus you will have to drop the oil pick up once you have the pan free. A major pain for sure.
