Default Help Please.

So i just changed my lifters in my motor, which i know has nothing to do with this issue. Every time i start my motor it shoots right up to 2500 rpms for about a second or two, then it starts revving super high and if i don't shut off at this point im pretty sure it will red line itself. The throttle isn't moving at all. the engine is just revving up with a closed throttle. im not sure whats going on, any ideas?

Can you check and see if the computer is throwing any codes?

A while back my '97 would idle at what seemed full out rpm and it turned out to be my throttle position sensor had failed. Change TPS and all was well.

Sounds like a pretty significant vacuum leak.

i cant run it for anymore than a few seconds but for those few seconds i dont hear any noticeable hissing sounds. And i dont see any disconnect or broken vacuum lines. i "love" the chain of problems this thing has had lately. Threw a rod in the first cylinder, put a used motor in, had a bad lifter, replaced all the lifters, now this. Just Empty Every Pocket is no joke.....

So you had the intake manifold off? If so, I'll bet that's where your leak is.

Tightened right up against the locating stud instead of the head. Happens a lot.

Yes I did to pull the head. I'm almost positive it went up right but I've seen them
Get caught up on the small studs leaving the bottom open. I'll double check when I get home.

You pretty much nailed it. I don't how I didn't notice but the intake isn't on right it got stuck on those two studs.
