No, that is not correct. To ensure everything is working properly, the factory 195 degree thermostat is the only way to go.

Using a 160 thermostat does not solve the underlying problem. It will make the Jeep go into a richer mode, wasting fuel and diluting the oil. The engine will develop less power.

Don't fall for that old wive's tale of using a lower temp thermostat. Find and fix the problem.

haha ya i know i deffinantly would never put 160 t stat in mine, i put the 195 in mine... and ya i've heard that the water pumps for the jeeps are notorious for going bad, my dad's jeep went through 5! lol but with a bad water pump i feel like anti freeze would not be coming out of the over flow??? and no the head is not blown and thats what i've been worried about with it over heating like its been no white smoke and the oil isn't blueish so thank god!!! but yeah i know its a good idea to replace it since it's pretty old so thats what i'll do.. but the pulley is tight and no leaks.... thanks guys

The antifreeze can boil over from pure boiling pressure; that is no indication of water pump performance.

There just is no good reason to leave that pump in there, even if it isn't the root cause. They aren't expensive. Buy new, never rebuilt.
