-that has been thought as flexplate/torque converter bolts, or maybe water-pump...
I haven't had any time to have it down to separate the tranny to check the torque converter bearing or bolts, but was going to do that tomorrow-
but yesterday afternoon, picking up my daughter from school I sat idling for about 10 minutes, and the temp gauge crept up to the redline. I shut it off and let it cool, then had a non-eventful ride home. Today I thought I would flush the coolant again- I did it about 3 weeks ago and it was pretty dirty. I replaced the upper and lower radiator hose at that time, as well as a Stant Super 195 thermostat. When I flushed it today, it was nice and clean, bright green coolant/water mixture. Oh, well, it didn't hurt to do it anyway.
So of course today at her school, idling, it crept up to the redline, I turned off the engine, and in about 30 seconds after shutting it off, POP! and coolant and steam start spewing like a geyser from under the hood.
When the show was over I opened the hood to see that the cap to the Preston Flush Tee on the heater hose had blasted the top clean off.
I had a half gallon of coolant with me, so after it cooled off I topped off the expansion tank with that, then added about a gallon of water. I duct-taped the tee off well enough to get home....but it wouldn't start.
The sound I get when I turn the key is a super fast clicking, from the starter.
Did it short out the starter solenoid? Coil? Someting else? The battery is strong enough to roll the windows up and crank on it, with that clicking going on...
needless to say it is still sitting in the parking lot at her school...
??????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
everything expands when it is hot. Have you tried to start it since it has cooled off? Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. you might also want to take a wrench and tap on the starts solenoid. It might not be a bad idea to replace the water pump.
thanks guys- I will be going back for it tomorrow, taking my tools with me.
Hopefully I can get it home and into the garage to start working on it....again.
