Default Help Needed: Gauge Cluster not Working

My dad's 96 XJ (SE with idiot lights rather than gauges on the cluster) had an intermittent gauge cluster issue where the speedometer, speed, etc. would stop working at unexpected and seemingly unrelated times. This had been going on for a while apparently, then just recently gave out entirely. I'm about 1000 miles from my dad so I'm going to work on it when I head out to visit him next. Can anyone give me direction on what to look for or fix? I don't want to spend my whole trip out there working on his XJ.

Thanks for the help,
s

Run a ground wire from one of the GND screws on the back. I used the bottom right GND when looking at the back.
Fixed my 94s that would jitter.

Did you attempt to fix it?
