I didnt take anything apart, the PO did, The Dimmer Switch is down from yours on mine. and I didnt take the ignition part, it was broke when I bought the jeep I just gave to fix it.

 

Would this still effect me even though my shifter is on the floor not the column and I have an automatic.

 

not that i have the same problem but the jeep i just got has a different column in it also and some how the ollar turned to the right and the key wouldnt go to the lock position. After looking at it for a few minutes i turned the column by hand to the left and tried the key again and it was able to come out. Why i have a column that used to change gears on the column I will never know.. Hope I helped some....

 

I fixxed it after I took off the two 15mm bolts I seen what the problem was. The locking part had come disconnected front the bar that runs down the column now everthing works.
